7 Twitter Tools For Performance Measurement and Research
It is a necessity to have a clear indication of your Twitter handle's performance and moreover to have a comprehension of your individual social media campaign's success in reaching set goals on the platform. Without these metrics one cannot gauge whether content is having influence and moreover it is unknown whether or not you are reaching your targets. It is also important for content marketers to see what content is 'in vogue' and to know what is being said about your brand in order to stay up-to-date with current conversation. Finally when attempting to build a community on Twitter you will want to have be following relevant and influential users within your niche. The sheer volume of tools available for measurement of Twitter performance and for more general research can be daunting. In this way I present what I regard as some of the best tracker and research applications currently available...
1. Hashtracking - Test Hashtag Performance
Hashtags are a really good way to organise your campaigns and categorise your content and conversations with your consumer or followers. This application provides real-time insight into hashtag campaigns and events. It gives you control to measure and analyse reach and effectiveness, discover those with users most contribution within the conversation and their individual influence. Reports and analytics can be viewed from a long term view or in a specific instance which is useful in terms of analysis. From a research perspective, Hashtracking enables you to follow an event or follow a trend which is handy when thinking about new content ideas.
2. TweetLevel - See How Influential You Are & Who to Follow
TweetLevel provides a useful overall analysis of your handle. Using its own methodology and metrics it creates scores such as your influence score (measures the number of people retweeting your content and the number of people who follow what you say), your popularity score (number of followers), and your trust level (how credible your content is, how often you are retweeted). It also places your handle in an influence type: from viewer to idea starter. These scores are useful to marketers as they allow you to see your true influence, and from this starting point you can set targets and goals to increase these scores and see whether or not campaigns help in this. Furthermore this tool provides a great way to find quality people to follow. You can search by influence, trust, engagement or popularity. For research you can also search by topics and key words with graphical search results.
3. Buzzsumo - Check Popular Content Across Platforms
This is a great app to use if you are stuck for content to share. By searching for terms which are relevant Buzzsumo will show you the most influential live content across a number of platforms with most shared at the top. You can then filter by article, infographic, videos, guest posts and giveaways. This is good for attracting followers through influential content. Another side of the app is the influencer search, where you can search by topic and find the most influential who are talking about it. I searched "social media marketing" here:
4. Tagboard - View Hashtags Across Multiple Platforms
5. TweetReach - See the Reach of Individual Tweets
This tool is great for seeing how well your Tweets are engaging with your community. From a content marketing perspective this is a really easy app to use to view and analyse certain metrics. You see your estimated accounts reached, exposure through impressions, contributors, and a timeline of conversations.
